Cyclone ‘Tauktae’ effect will be seen in Rajasthan from Sunday, heavy rain may occur

People got relief from heat due to rain and thunderstorms in the capital on Saturday. The weather started changing at 4 o’clock in the evening after the scorching heat till noon. There were dark clouds in the sky and the wind started blowing at a speed of 30-40 km after which the weather became pleasant.

On May 17, there will be a further increase in rain activity. moderate rains with strong winds are expected at some places in the districts of the state. It is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm over the next 24 hours and move northwest towards the Gujarat coast on 18 May.

By may 20, there will be thunderstorms due to the ‘Tauktae’ cyclone. However, the meteorological department has refused to call it pre-monsoon.

According to the meteorological department, it is the effect of western disturbance. For the last about seven days, there have been ongoing storm-rains in the state. Thunderstorms will intensify in the next five-six days. But, this time not due to western disturbance but due to a cyclonic storm. 

 Heavy to very heavy rains are likely to occur in Barmer, Jalore, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and adjoining districts of the Jodhpur division. Apart from this, there will be moderate to heavy rains in Nagaur, Bikaner, Churu, Ajmer, Sirohi Jaipur, Bharatpur division and adjoining districts.
