Country’s first electric highway between Jaipur-Delhi

Jaipur-Delhi soon to become a two-hour journey as the country's first electric highway will connect the two metro cities by next June.

Nitin Gadkari, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister are in talks with foreign companies to build India’s first electric highway from Delhi to Jaipur. The distance between Delhi to Jaipur will be completed in just 2 hours.

Nitin Gadkari has said that India’s first electric highway is likely to come up between Delhi and Jaipur soon. Along with the Delhi-Jaipur stretch, there are also talks ongoing with a Swedish firm for an electric highway stretch on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.

He made the announcement of the electric highway while reviewing the largest expressway in the world being built between Delhi and Mumbai. The Greenfield Expressway is 1350 km long and through this, the distance between Delhi to Jaipur will be completed in just 2 hours. He said that after the construction of this highway, the distance of many states from Delhi will be reduced.  

According to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), by next March, the Sohna elevated road which is currently under construction and the Sohna-Dausa stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will hopefully be completed and be signal-free for commuters. This will reduce the travel time between Delhi and Jaipur.

Gadkari also said It’s his dream project to build an electric highway from Delhi to Jaipur. He has an aim to transform public transports like buses and trucks into electric vehicles and bring an end to the use of petrol and diesel.
