Good news for all-sky gazers! Jaipur’s Art and Culture Department has recently introduced Astro Tourism in the city for those who love stargazing. Tourists will now be able to watch the moon, night sky, stars, and planets closely.
Along with the huge palatial buildings and historical monuments, Pink city has been added with one more tourism attraction, Astro Tourism. In a metro city like Jaipur where viewing the starlit sky is near to impossible, Astro tourism brought them the opportunity to live their passion for stargazing. The Art and Culture Minister, BD Kalla launched the Night Sky Tourism.
Those interested in reading the stars and the sky can visit Jaipur to enjoy the night tourism. Using new astronomical technology, visitors can watch the moon, night sky, stars, and planets closely through a telescope present there. The Night Sky Tourism package involves astronomy narrations by pros of the science department. Their insights, knowledge and understanding about the subject will be a valuable experience of the viewers.
According to art & culture minister B.D. Kalla, this new initiative will boost the night tourism of Rajasthan. It will be a unique experience for tourists and will be of great value to the state as a tourist destination.
Mugdha Sinha the Secretary of art and culture and department of science and technology said this initiative to start night tourism was taken by the state government. The initiative aims to ensure that Jaipur evolves as a city of not only history and heritage but also for science and technological advancements.
The state tourism department wants to organise such viewing sessions in monuments, schools and colleges. Viewing sessions have already been held at Jawahar Kala Kendra and of course, at Jantar Mantar, a Unesco World Heritage site.
Jawahar Kala Kendra is a famous art centre designed to preserve the rich art and culture of Rajasthan. It has eight blocks which include a big auditorium, museums, an amphitheatre library, display rooms, a hostel, a studio, and a cafeteria. While Jantar Mantar is a world heritage site known for its wonderful collection of 19 fixed astronomical instruments.
