Jaipur has been raining heavily since Friday morning. Due to heavy rains, the roads of the capital have become ponds, vehicles parked on the road have been drowned, while people are facing a lot of trouble in movement.
Due to thick clouds in Jaipur, it became dark in the morning and the drivers had to drive on with the headlight on. Heavy downpour and waterlogged roads caused a long jam. Most of the vehicles that got stuck in the water were damaged. In compulsion, people left them on the roads and went towards safe places for shelter. People saved themselves from the rain at railway stations, bus stands and even ATMs. All offices have reduced their timings. People have been in the houses since morning.
The entire city faced waterlogging following heavy rainfall. The area in front of RTO Office, Roadways Headquarters, Railway DRM Office, Khasa Kothi, Circuit House, Elephant Village, Jal Mahal has been submerged in the city. At the same time, rainwater has entered various offices including Hotel Teej, Abkari police station. Apart from this, the surrounding rural areas including Walled city, Mansarovar, Sanganer, Malviya Nagar have been receiving heavy rains since morning. Heavy rain caused flooding around Jaipur’s Fairmont.
The heavy rains in the capital have also affected the assembly session. The MLAs also had trouble reaching the assembly.
The legislators of the Gehlot camp left with two cars from the Fairmont Hotel to take part in the session. But due to heavy rains, both cars got stuck on the road. Due to this, many MLAs could not reach the house on time and proceedings of the assembly session were also postponed till 1 pm.
After almost a month’s political tussle, former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot met. It is the 5th session of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly started on Friday. The meeting took place at chief minister residence (CMR). The two leaders attended the Congress party legislative meeting along with several other senior leaders on Thursday. Gehlot said that the differences that surfaced over the past few days should be forgotten.
It’s obvious that the crisis that began almost a month ago has come to an end. After a meeting with the party high command, Sachin Pilot has agreed to return to the Congress.
As per the Meteorological Department, it was around 125 mm of rain recorded in 7 hours. There is a prediction of heavy rains in many parts of the eastern part of the state including Jaipur for the next 24 hours.
It is a matter of concern that the rain continues even afternoon. In such a situation, difficulties are likely to increase. The administration has sent rescue teams of civil defence in 13 areas of Jaipur. Five teams have been deployed to conduct the rescue operation. Also, people trapped in low-lying areas will also be evacuated. Emergency numbers have also been issued.
