The Rajasthan government will soon release a new policy for providing water connections to multi-storey buildings in Jaipur. The policy is expected to be brought up before Diwali.

This policy may come up as a relief to residents of Jaipur living in multi-storey buildings. Currently, lakhs of people struggle to get drinking water connections and have to rely on private suppliers.

According to the water resource minister, Mahesh Joshi, “The department is currently working on revising the existing policy and fixing its loopholes. We will soon announce this policy so that the apartment dwellers can easily get water connections.”

Apart from this, he inaugurated the Pink Division in the city, an endeavour at the divisional headquarters level which will employ women officials to facilitate women consumers to have their water supply-related grievances resolved confidently. This initiative is a step towards women empowerment.

Pink Division will be set up at each divisional headquarter in the state. Under this initiative, the water charges have been waived up to 15,000 litres of drinking water along with interest and penalty on payment of water bills.

This particular section of women is a dignified action to reward their labour, skill, devotion to duty and loyalty. The engineers of the water supply department will solve the problems of the common man in cooperation with the public representatives.

During the inauguration all the Chief Engineers and other officers including ACS Subodh Agarwal, Chairperson of Social Welfare Board Archana Sharma, Chairman of Small Industries Development Corporation Rajiv Arora and XEN Nisha Sharma.
