After nine years, a hydraulic multi-level parking project in Krishna Marg near Ahinsa Circle in C-scheme started on Thursday. The local residents, commuters and many office goers got a huge relief after its inaugural.

There has been a lot of issues due to haphazard parking of cars and bikes in the area. The vehicles parked on roads created a situation of jam at the C Scheme. The parking on streets leading to Ahinsa Circle will now be restricted by the traffic department so that there is no chaos. The multi-level parking will provide relief to a number of people.

This multi-level parking can accommodate 400 cars at a time. It will ease the problem of the lack of parking space. The vehicles will no more stand on the roadways now. This project is started by Shanti Dhariwal, minister of urban development and housing department.

The parking was inaugurated in the presence of the officials of the corporation including UDH Minister Shanti Dhariwal, Transport Minister Pratap Singh Khachariwas, and other public representatives.

For this, the Municipal Corporation has made complete preparations with the parking development company. The corporation has done a 30-year MAU from the private company Fintech Parkcon India Private Limited to operate the parking lot.

According to the JMC officials, this project was started nearly nine years ago. Earlier, In the year 2011, the Municipal Corporation had signed an amu to create multi-level parking under a public-private partnership mode. In exchange, the contractor was allowed to construct commercial space on government space. The project fell into controversy later and got delayed. The company started the commercial development and earning revenue, but the parking could not be thrown open for the public despite it had been built and fully developed. Recently, the corporation administration got into action and decided to start parking in collaboration with another company.

The local residents demanded that once the hydraulic parking becomes functional, no one should be allowed to park on the roadside. The company will manage the parking space as per the MoU.
