Lokrang is going to start at Jawahar Kala Kendra from October 10. In this 11-day festival, the culture of many states will be seen on one platform. JKK has started the preparations for this festival with colours.

There are huts of 7 divisions including Jaipur, Barmer, Dungarpur, Kota, Bharatpur, Sikar and Bikaner present in Shilpgram. The work of making murals with dung-earthen coating has been started. While the thatches of these hut also need renovation which will start soon after the rain stops.

One of the thatches present in it had caught fire in the night of November 2021 due to a short circuit. Due to this the color of the walls had also turned black with the burning of thatch. Although it was fixed after a month, the difference between the new and the old was clearly visible.

Work of renovation has been started in the shilpgram. About Rs 9.5 lakh will be spent in this work. It is worth noting that this change is happening in Shilpgram after about 5 years. However, going as per the rules the renovations should be done every two years. As of now, thatches of 7 divisions will be changed as their life has been completely expired.

Shilpgram was built with the aim of leaving an impression of Rajasthani art, culture and rural environment. The artisans will be called from every division to give the original appearance to the huts. It will be ensured that there is no change in their original design, special care will be taken. After this renovation, the entire Shilpgram will be seen painted in one color. Keeping the festival in mind, it will be an effort to complete the work as soon as possible.
