The Rajasthan government has revised the excise policy following which English liquor made in India will get cheaper and country liquor prices will increase, bars will be given short-term licenses to operate.
According to the newly revised rules issued by the Excise Department of Rajasthan. From April 1, the price of country liquor and Rajasthan Made Liquor (RML) has been increased by Rs 2. Apart from this, English liquor made in India will be cheaper from the next financial year. However, it has been decided to abolish the additional excise duty on these.
Along with this, under the new rules, now short-term licenses will be given to those who run bars in Rajasthan. This will benefit those people who, after starting the bar, suffer losses throughout the year due to non-receipt of revenue.

English liquor may be cheaper by Rs 10 to 15
The Department has decided to remove the 30% additional excise duty on India-made English liquor. After this decision, a bottle of English liquor will become cheaper by Rs 10 to 15 from the next financial year.
The fee of bar operators has also been reduced
The Excise Department has issued a new rule to give benefits to bar operators in Rajasthan. Under this, they will now be given short-term licenses. At present, the Excise Department gives licenses for one year to hotels or other institutions to run bars. They renew it every year. From the next financial year, instead of one year, licenses will be given for 3 months.
Not only this, those hotels or institutions that run bars do not renew their license in any year, then take the license in the next year, and then they have to pay the fee for that complete year. This time, a provision has been made reducing the fee to paying only 25% of the full amount.
Objection on the renewal fees of the shops
The shop operators have raised objections to the decision of the renewal fees of the license of the liquor shops running at present. They say that the shops which are running at present, are increasing their renewal fee by 15%, which is very high. Shop operators will be under pressure to sell more liquor next year.
Concession to CAPFs in Excise Policy
This year, it has been decided to give retail licenses to the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) on the lines of BSF and exemption from excise duty. Under this, liquor will now be available in CAPF canteens at cheaper rates to the employees and jawans on the lines of BSF canteens.
