JMC deputy commissioner removed due to negligence on street dogs threat

The reports of street dogs menace in the city have been increasing day by day. Following the reports and the negligence in dealing with it, the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) commissioner removed deputy commissioner of animal control branch on Tuesday. The deputy commissioner was served a notice.

After the visit of JMC commissioner in areas of Mansarovar and Sanganer zones, there were many irregularities noticed related to street dogs. He took an abrupt action and removed Bhomaram Saini the deputy commissioner of animal control branch. The Ram Kishore Mehta has been given the acting charge.

The Firm Human Welfare Society, an NGO has the contract of catching street dogs. There were reports that in the past 11 months the NGO caught about 8200 dogs in the city. For this, the JMC was to pay an amount of 60 lakh to the NGO but paid only Rs 5 lakh. As a result, the NGO quit working soon after this.

When asked to the officials of NGO, they complained that due to the lack of fund, the workers were not provided the salary for their work to catch street dogs.   

Street dogs have attacked more than 30 people over the past week in various areas of the city, including Malviya Nagar.
