JLF 2022 update: Bigger, Better and Grandeur this year

Jaipur Literature Festival is going to be held from 5th to 14th March 2022 at Hotel Clarks Amer. In this fest, there will be interesting and thoughtful sessions, food stalls with different cuisines, soulful music, bookstalls with famous books, and a host of different brands. This year, ‘Friends of the Festival’ will be the new attraction of JLF.

Friends of the Festival

This year, the Jaipur Literature Festival is coming up with a unique experience, ‘Friends of the Festival’. Friends of the Festival (FOF) is a lounge specially designed for this event. Anyone can visit this lounge to have special snacks, tea or coffee arranged here. Special book signing and book delivery will also take place at FOF Lounge. 

Apart from this, the festival (10-14 March 2022) will have lunch and dinner, special session seating and free entry to the Jaipur Music Stage. Invitation to the Writers’ Ball to be held on March 14, 2022, will be given exclusively to those who buy the package of five days.

Leading Speakers

Talented personalities from all over the world have been participating in panel discussions in different sessions at the festival. The speakers attending this year are 2002 Pulitzer Prize winner Jonathan Franz, 2021 Booker winner Damon Gelug, Australian writer and 2003 Booker winner DBC Pierre. It will also be accompanied by British poet Ruth Padel, Sahitya Akademi young wiener Tanuj Solanki, award-winning British-Turkish novelist Elif Shafak, American academic and writer Maya Jasonoff. Robert McFarlane, author of several best-selling books, famous writer and Padma Bhushan awardee Vidya Dehejia and senior Indian journalist Vinod Kapri will also attend.

Morning Music

For music lovers, every day at the festival will begin with relaxing music. This will further set the stage for the upcoming Literary Discussion. Hindustani classical singers will be Ujjwal Nagar and Sombala Kumar Sawmill. Indian classical singer Aastha Goswami, storytelling collective The Aahwan Project; And academic and musician Priya Kanungo will boost the musical feel.

Heritage Evening

Apart from the morning music, a Heritage Evening will be held on 13th March at Ganesh Pol, Amer Fort at the much-acclaimed Literary Festival. Kalapini Komakali, daughter of classical singer and renowned Pandit Kumar Gandharva, will decorate this evening with her tunes; and dancer and choreographer Aditi Mangaldas. The evening will end up with a fashion show presented by the students of Arch School of Design, Jaipur.

Jaipur Music Stage

The much-awaited concert of the Jaipur Literary Festival, Jaipur Music Stage, will be held from 10 to 12 March 2022. The lively performances of powerful artists from across the country will enchant you through various dimensions of music. Many famous stars of the country and the world have participated in the Jaipur Music Stage. This year we will carry forward the same tradition.

Jaipur Bookmark

Jaipur Bookmark is South Asia’s largest publishing program, organized parallel to the Jaipur Literary Festival. It brings together publishers, literary agents, translation agencies and authors under one B2B platform, where industry veterans present their views and suggestions. In its hybrid form, the on-ground and online program will try to explore the possibilities of publishing this year as well.

Food Stalls and Merchandise

Like every time, the visitors attending the festival will be able to enjoy the festival market. The Festival Bazaar will be held at Hotel Clarks Amer for five days, from 9 am to 6 pm. At Jaipur Music Stage, there will be a night market from 10 to 12 March from 7 pm to 10 pm. Everything from clothes, stationery, jewellery, footwear, lifestyle, the home decor will be available in this market. Many delicious dishes will be offered at the food stalls set up in the festival and night market.
