Jaipur Royal Highness to lead Indian polo team in world cup

The royal highness Sawai Padmanabh Singh of Jaipur to captain the Indian polo team in XII FP World Cup Zonal Playoffs.

Jaipur’s Maharaja Padmanabh to captain the Indian Polo Team during the XII FP World Cup Zonal Playoffs to be held at Inanda Polo Club at Johannesburg, South Africa. The World Cup is scheduled to be held from September 6 to 12 this year.

Along with Padmanabh Singh (+4), Shamsheer Ali (+4), Siddhant Sharma (+4), Kuldeep Singh Rathore (+3), Gaurav Sahgal (+3), and Naveen Singh Tanwar (+3) are the other members of the team. Samir Suhag will be the coach and manager. Padmanabh will be looking to take the team ahead in the finals at Palm Beach, Florida.

Sawai Padmanabh Singh, a member of the erstwhile royal family of Jaipur was crowned and became Maharaja (king) of Jaipur in 2011 is the youngest ever player to be chosen for the tournament from India.

Padmanabh Singh has shown outstanding polo skills and performance in the past few years in the different tournaments. He has been selected in the Indian side for the World Cup for the second time.

The last time India had won the World Cup was in France in 1957 under the captainship of Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II of Jaipur. Incidentally, Padmanabh Singh is the second player from the erstwhile Jaipur Royal Family to represent the country in the World Cup.

Moreover, he is the Brand Ambassador for the leading and prestigious Argentinean leisure polo-centric company, La Martina. He studied in Mayo College in Ajmer and Millfield School in London where he excelled himself in the game of polo.
