It is a monument built to commemorate the courageousness of countless Jaipur’s martyrs and soldiers who lost their lives in the Indo-Pakistani War in 1971. This war memorial represents the sung and unsung heroes of our independence struggle. A continuously burning flame is a tribute to the martyrdom of soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country. Amar Jawan Jyoti or Shahid Smarak was installed by Indira Gandhi in Delhi , the prime minister of India, in the year 1972.

This memorial is built with pink sandstone on a black marble pedestal. You can witness an upturned rifle top of which is covered by a warhead and bound by four vases. The four corners are lit up by torches that always burn and illuminate the whole place. The eternal flame is kept alive with CNG fire. The flame can be seen and admired even from a distance. These bright, unswerving flames are proof that heroes don’t die, they live through their words and deeds! This place is also called a flame of immortals. There is a cenotaph scripted in gold at Amar Jawan Jyoti which signify the words of soldiers who devoted their lives for the nation.
