Indira Rasoi Yojna launched today in Jaipur, food to poor at a subsidised rate

The Indira Rasoi Scheme by the state government launched today in Jaipur. The scheme will provide meals at Rs. 8 around 213 urban cities in the state.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot started an initiative ‘Indira Rasoi kitchen’ scheme with a motive of ‘Nobody Starved Sleep’. The scheme is named after former prime minister Indira Gandhi.

The government will give a grant of Rs 12 on every plate with a budget of 100 crores every year. The state government has provided Rs 4.87 lakh to each operator. Every year, a grant of Rs 2 lakh will be provided.

The Jaipur Municipal Corporation has decided 20 places in Jaipur to set up these kitchens. It will be started at ten places each in the Jaipur Greater and Jaipur Heritage. One kitchen will be started at 12 local bodies of the Jaipur district, and 358 places all over the state. 

Under this scheme, people will get food for only 8 rupees. In a plate of 8 rupees, 100 grams of pulses, 100 grams of vegetables, 250 grams of chapati and pickles will be given. The cost will be Rs 20 per plate, however, it will be provided on subsidised rates. While the customer has to pay the only Rs.8 for a single plate.

According to an official, the lunch will usually be available from 8 am to 1 pm and dinner from 5 pm to 8 pm. There is no need for any type of documentation to have food. Any person can get a plate of food for 8 rupees. There will also be arrangements for sitting around the kitchen.

Monitoring of the scheme will be done using the latest technology. CCTV cameras will be installed for monitoring. The customers having mobile phones will receive a coupon via SMS. The operators will also maintain Social distancing and sanitise the kitchen.

The District administration and Local self-government will handle the quality of the food. They can also change the menu as per the local requirement. The customers who are not satisfied with the quality of the food may complain at the toll-free number 18001806127.

Earlier, the former chief minister Vasundhara Raje government launched the Annapurna Rasoi scheme. Now, the Congress government is all set to overhaul the scheme after a change in regime. The initiative by the Congress government is launched under a vision to provide food to the poor at subsidised rates after spending money in a transparent manner.
