Government to conduct Religious tour for seniors citizens, Apply from June

The Rajasthan government will provide a free religious tour for senior citizens at 13 religious places in India. The applicants may apply for the tour from next month.

The Rajasthan government has announced plans to conduct religious journeys for senior citizens at 13 religious places including Pashupatinath-Kathmandu, and Rameshwaram. The government will provide free travel to religious places to senior citizens of the state from September this year.

For this, applications will be sought from June next month. In a meeting held with the department, the Devsthan minister directed the officials to start the preparations for the pilgrimage tour. During this, 20 thousand passengers will be taken to pilgrimage places across the country. This journey will be done by train and aeroplane. Apart from Pashupatinath-Kathmandu, a total of a dozen pilgrimage sites including Rameshwaram in the south will be included.

According to the Devsthan minister, the senior citizen pilgrimage would start in September. For the first time, 20 thousand passengers will be taken on the pilgrimage. Out of these, 18 thousand passengers will be taken by train, while 2 thousand passengers will be taken to the pilgrimage site by airplane. Persons who have completed 60 years of age as of 1st April 2022 would be eligible to apply for this scheme. It is mandatory for the people going on the Yatra to have a Jan Aadhar card.

An attendant will be able to go with elders above 75 years

Devasthan Minister said that the Chief Minister has given a budget of 30 crores for this scheme in the budget announcement. Instructions were given to increase the number of passengers from 10 thousand to 20 thousand. The applicants whose age is more than 75 years will be allowed to carry a helper or a member of their family, during the journey with them.

The tour will cover 13 pilgrimage places including Rameshwar, Jagannathpuri, Tirupati, Dwarkapuri-Somnath, Vaishnodevi-Amritsar, Prayagraj-Varanasi, Mathura-Vrindavan, Sammed Shikharji-Pawapuri, Ujjain-Omkareshwar, Gangasagar (Kolkata), Kamakhya (Guwahati) and Haridwar-Rishikesh.
