Decision of opening schools from August 2 taken back

Schools will not open in Rajasthan from August 2, Government withdraws the decision. A committee of 5 ministers will decide the new date of opening of school-college.

News

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot turned over the announcement of Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasara to open schools for children of all classes in the state from August 2. Now a committee of 5 ministers will decide the date of opening of the school.

Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasara had declared the opening of schools for children of all classes from August 2 after a cabinet meeting held a day earlier on Thursday. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot completely reversed the announcement of the Education Minister by holding a virtual meeting on Friday night to decide the SOP for opening schools and colleges.

Decision only after thorough consideration

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that this decision is taken back in view of the possible third wave of the Covid epidemic. The conclusion should be carried after thorough consideration regarding the SOP to open educational institutions. The committee will decide the date of opening schools and up to which class the children should be called to the school.

These will be the committee members

This committee will include Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasara, Health minister Raghu Sharma, Agriculture Minister Lalchand Kataria, Minister of State for Higher Education Bhanwar Singh Bhati and Minister of State for Technical Education Subhash Garg.

Committee’s role

The committee will study the SOP (standard operating procedure) regarding the opening of schools prepared by ICMR, the education ministry and other states. The decision will be taken after discussing the feedback and experience of the states where schools have been opened.

It is supposed that now schools will not open for all classes. There is a possibility that schools will start for children from class 6 to 12 or from class 9 to 12.
