Corona News Update News

In Rajasthan, preparations have been started to vaccinate children in the age group of 5 to 12 years. The Drugs Controller General of India (DGCI) has approved the use of Biologics-E’s Vaccine Cobrevax to children in the age group of 5 to 12 years and Bharat Biotech’s Co-vaccine to children in the age group of 6 to 12 years.

Given this, the corona vaccine will be administered to 1 crore 56 lakh children of this age group in Rajasthan, although it is not yet decided when the children will get the vaccine.

According to medical experts, two vaccines Corbevax and Co-vaccine have been approved for this. As per this approval, children of 5 to 6 years of age can be given Corbevax and children of 6 to 12 years can be given Covaxin as well as Corbevax. Both these doses will be taken with a gap of 28 days.

Currently, only children above 12 years of age are being vaccinated. The Covaxin also got acceptance for emergency use on children aged 12 to 18 years on December 24, 2021. The vaccination of children between 12 and 14 years in the country started on 16 March.

The experts claim that 70 percent of the people who took the booster dose of Covid vaccination did not get infected during the third wave. This result has been found in a study done on 6 thousand people. A study has also revealed that 45 percent of the people who did not take the booster dose were re-infected.

Before the vaccination drive, PM Narendra Modi has called a virtual meeting with the Chief Ministers of all the states. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will also join from noon.

In this meeting, Gehlot will ask the Prime Minister to make available free vaccines for all age groups to the states, to provide vaccine and booster doses as soon as possible as per the target number, to strictly examine the RT-PCR negative report of passengers coming from abroad and to follow the quarantine rules. He can also ask to consider banning flights coming from countries where Covid cases are increasing. Along with this, statistics like oxygen, beds, and ventilators can also be shared with preparations in the hospitals of Rajasthan.

There has been an increase in the number of corona cases in the country since the last two weeks. The vaccine for children was necessary due to the upcoming events like Eid, Akha Teej (Akshaya Tritiya), Lord Parashuram Jayanti, and Baishakh Buddha Purnima.
