Covid vaccination is mandatory in Rajasthan to use government benefits

Covid vaccination will be compulsory in Rajasthan from Feb 1, those refusing will be penalised and not get benefits from government facilities.

The Rajasthan Chief Minister ordered Covid-19 vaccination mandatory in the state. Those who are not vaccinated will not be able to use various facilities offered by the government and they will be charged a fine as well. The government will shortly release guidelines on this concern. 

As per the officials, vaccination for COVID-19 will be made compulsory for entering and utilizing facilities at various places in Rajasthan from February 1 next year. The government has also instructed to prepare a list of those who are saying no to getting vaccinated.

The measures are being taken given the rising cases of Omicron variant of coronavirus in the state. In the review meeting regarding the Covid-19 situation, the Chief Minister instructed the officials that every person must be vaccinated and it should be made mandatory. Other important steps like night curfew, the strictness of enforcing masks and adhering to covid appropriate behaviour are also not being ruled out.

Gehlot said that masks were made compulsory in the state earlier. Now, vaccination will also be mandatory and people would be given a deadline for the vaccination. If they still don’t get vaccinated, they will be penalized, removed from the beneficiary list and will be deprived of the benefits of the government schemes. 

The Chief Minister also instructed the officials to ensure strict obedience with all the regulations like wearing a face mask and social distancing from the first week of January. Also, strict action would be taken against those who are refraining from wearing masks in public places and are not adhering to other Covid-19 guidelines.

He held a thorough meeting with divisional commissioners, district collectors, the principal of all medical colleges and health officials. Ayurveda Minister, Minister of State for Home, Chief Secretary and other officials were also present in the meeting.

Rajasthan has made wearing masks mandatory including night curfew from 11 pm to 5 am. The state government will pressure the central government to quickly decide in favour of a booster dose.
