Russia’s Sputnik-V vaccine arrives in Jaipur hospital

As the Covid recovery rate in the state has shot up and continues to improve, the state government is now focusing more on vaccination drives anticipating the third wave in the coming months. JNU hospital in Jaipur is providing doses of Russia’s Sputnik-V vaccines.

According to the JNU Chancellor, Dr. Sandeep Bakshi, ” Sputnik-V vaccines are being provided to people in our hospital. JNU has all the standard means of carefully storing the Russian-made Sputnik V. There is a complete system to keep the vaccine safe at minus 80°C in the cold chain.”

“The second dose of Sputnik-V can be taken after 28 days of receiving the first dose. The cost of one dose of the Sputnik-V is Rs 1,140. Sputnik V has proved to be the most effective and life-saving vaccine on the delta variant of the deadliest Covid,” he added.

Recently, the state government has received 1 lakh doses of Covaxin acquired for beneficiaries aged between 18 years and 44 years. Moreover, the state government is receiving 8 lakh doses on Friday, out of which 4 lakh are acquired by the state government while the rest will be supplied by the Centre.

The health department officials have appealed to people to get vaccinated before the third wave. Currently, more than 200 Covid infections are reported in the state daily.
