CM flags off Nirbhaya Squad in Jaipur to take on the eve-teasers

The Jaipur police introduced a new batch of lady policemen as Nirbhaya Squad. The CM of Rajasthan flagged off these women constables in Nirbhaya Squad with new motorcycles on Tuesday.

According to the police commissioner of Jaipur, Anand Shrivastav, “Women policemen are given blue uniforms in this squad. These lady constables are trained in martial arts and to chase eve-teasers. About 50 motorcycles have been made available to them from Jaipur Police under CSR by Honda Two Wheelers.”

Nirbhaya Squad Each bike will have two lady policemen. They are specially trained to use weapons to ward off any threat and prevent incidents of molestation and protection of women and girls, especially girls. They will be patrolling at places like schools, colleges, malls, public parks, bus stops and tourist spots in Jaipur city, he added.

Sirens have been placed on their motorcycles and blue and red beacons have been placed back and forth. Apart from this, they have been given wireless sets and first aid boxes.

Earlier, the woman constables used to drive scooters. 50 more bikes will be introduced to the squad soon. This will increase the police check on the miscreants in the city. Driving motorcycles will give them better control over speed and quick mobility. The squad will be linked with the Abhay command and control center of Jaipur to guide their movement.

According to a tweet the CM posted, 100 such motorcycles have been made available across Rajasthan.

This is started with an aim to ensure the safety and security in all major areas of the city including schools, universities, and areas with maximum hostels.
