City’s monuments reopen for tourists now

With control over rising covid cases and ease in lockdown restrictions, the city is coming back to the normal track. Most of the commercial activities have begun and many others are about to. The state government also allowed the city’s historic monuments to reopen.

Historical monuments including Amber Fort, Nahargarh Fort, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar and Albert Hall, reopened for the tourists on Wednesday. The night tourism and light and sound shows will still be shut till further notice. Though there was a low footfall after these tourist places reopened, the arrival of monsoon will draw visitors and the tourism industry will soon gain pace. 

These tourist destinations which were closed since mid-April are now allowed to open with a few guidelines. The notification issued by the department are as follows:

  • All the monuments will remain open from Monday from 9 am to 3 pm. They will remain closed during the weekend curfew
  • Tourists should prefer booking tickets online as much as possible.
  • Tourists need to show a negative RTPCR report and a fully vaccinated certificate.
  • Sanitisation of the premises before opening and closing of the monuments. Thermal screening and sanitising of staff, officials, guides and tourists at the entrance.
  • No entry without a mask.
  • Not more than five to six people will be allowed entry at a time. The next group will be allowed after a gap of at least five minutes.
  • Guards to ensure that everyone follows social distancing norms inside the premises. To keep a distance, the tourists will have to stand in the circles drawn at the ticket window.
  • Housekeeping staff will work in shifts.
  • Elephant rides will be operational with 50% capacity. Not more than two tourists per elephant will be allowed.
