Children at risk of Tomato flu, Government issued advisory

After a rapid increase in cases of tomato flu in the country, the Union Health Ministry has issued an advisory to keep children up to the age of 12 years in special care. 

In this disease, small blisters like red tomatoes appear on the body of children. Because of this, health experts have named this disease tomato flu, while its scientific name is Hand Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD).

After the issue of the advisory of the Central Government, the Medical Health Department, Rajasthan has also issued an advisory stating that this is a type of common viral infection, which also gets cured on its own after a few days. In this disease, along with the blisters, fever is a common symptom.

These are visible symptoms 

Children who are affected by this disease show symptoms like fatigue, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, dehydration, swelling of joints, body aches and general viral illness. Apart from this, there are blisters in places on the body, which look like red tomatoes. Due to these blisters, children’s skin also starts burning. A day or two after the initial fever of a child who is infected with this virus, small red spots appear.
