After 8 years Jaipur to host International cricket at SMS stadium

Good news for cricket lovers! After eight years, international cricket will be played again in Jaipur, two international cricket matches will be held in SMS Stadium

After a long gap of 8 years, Pink city will witness International matches at SMS stadium. New Zealand and West Indies Legends will be seen featuring two matches with India at SMS Stadium in Jaipur.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) held an important meeting on Monday. In the meeting, the board has announced the 2021-22 international home season for the men’s team. Four Tests, three One-day Internationals (ODIs) and 14 T20Is to be played from November 17.

The tour will start from Jaipur itself on November 17 with a T20 match. The first T201 between India and New Zealand on November 17 and the 2nd ODI between India and West Indies on February 9, 2022, will be played at the SMS Stadium.

Apart from Jaipur, New Zealand will play T20 matches in Ranchi and Kolkata. After New Zealand, the West Indies cricket team will play three ODIs and as many T20s in February 2022. Other than Jaipur, the mates for the ODI series are to be held in Ahmedabad and Kolkata. 

The Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) always wished to restore cricketing culture in the state. Vaibhav Gehlot, the president of the RCA had a goal of getting international matches back to Rajasthan. In this announcement, he thanked both BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah for making it possible. He was in continuous talks with them, urging and convincing them that Jaipur was worthy of being an incredible host.

The last international match took place in 2013 

The last international match was played between Australia and India on 16 October 2013 in Jaipur. India took on Australia by 9 wickets while achieving Australia’s score of 359 runs in just 43.3 overs in an ODI match at the Sawai Mansingh (SMS) Stadium.
