200 students in Rajasthan to get scholarships every year to study-abroad

The state government has decided to award scholarships to 200 students who aspire to study abroad in elite foreign universities.

The students who aspire to do higher studies in reputed institutes abroad can now fulfill their dreams easily. The Rajasthan government has decided to reward 200 deserving students with a scholarship to pursue education abroad. 

The scholarship will be granted under Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship (RGS) for the Academic Excellence scheme. It was announced in August last year on Rajiv Gandhi’s birthday but has been implemented from the ongoing session. The online application for the scholarship will start from October 22, 2021.

Students can now choose any of the 50 renowned institutes in the world which are under the ambit of the scholarship to pursue higher studies. These institutes include Oxford, Harvard and Stanford etc. 

The scholarship will provide monetary aid 

This scholarship will facilitate the students with financial assistance for their bachelor’s, master’s, Ph.D. or post-doctoral degrees abroad. This scholarship will cover travel expenses, tuition fees and other charges of the beneficiaries.

As per the reports, 200 scholarships will be awarded every year. Of them, 60 will be reserved for female students. Before applying for this scholarship, the applicants must make sure that they are eligible for entry into the preferred universities. The scheme will give priority to the students having a family income of ₹8 lakh and below yearly.

To get all the information regarding the scholarship and its process one can reach out to the official portal of the Rajasthan government. The applications will be chosen directly from the portal. In case there are more than 200 applications, a lottery system will decide who will win the scholarships.

Stream-wise seat allotment

Out of the 200 seats, 150 have been assigned for students willing to study the subjects Humanities, Social Science, Agriculture and Forest Science, Nature and Environmental Science and Law. While 25 seats have been assigned to those interested in learning Management and Business Administration and Economics and Finance.

Further, additional 25 seats have been assigned for studying Pure Science and Public Health. If any of the slots of these streams remain vacant, 15 seats might be allocated to students learning Engineering and Related Sciences and Medicine and Applied Sciences.

This initiative will motivate and encourage students to dream big and strive hard to achieve their aspirations. With this move, the state government aims to inspire them and expects that the scheme will benefit those students who are financially underprivileged and whose educational journeys are otherwise affected by financial limitations.
